Girl Travel

I've had a couple of intense weeks, but I'm back and more connected to my passion than ever.

I traveled for two weeks around Italy and managed a balanced lifestyle. Growing up—and maybe many of you can agree with me—vacations meant doing everything you don't allow yourself to do in your daily life. With that mentality, I would typically reach the end of the trip ready to return home: back to my routine, my healthy eating, my gym, my wake-up time. I couldn’t enjoy the present moment.

Instead, on this trip, I unconsciously lived as I would on any normal day in my life. Of course, I indulged myself more often than I normally would. But I listened to my body, and I can tell you it’s the best thing you can do for yourself. It’s an act of self-love.

I woke up at 8:30 every morning, put on some music, and started making breakfast for my family and I. I believe breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it breaks your overnight fast. You need to be very conscious of what you put into your body first thing in the morning. I chugged a cup of water upon waking up and waited until I felt hungry. Cooking breakfast under the Italian morning sun was heartwarming and peaceful. I made sure to always include a source of fiber, protein, and fats on the table so that we started the day nurtured and fueled.

We ate out every day, as is usual on vacation. I took advantage of the wide variety of fresh fish and vegetables, and every now and then, when I really felt like it and knew it would make me happy, I would have a plate of pasta. SO DELICIOUS!!! If that was the case, I would opt for a veggie starter. I didn’t stress about it. I simply decided to enjoy the moment and the delicious food in front of me.

I didn’t do an actual workout during the whole two weeks, but Europe equals a lot of walking, so I was content with that—a bit of movement every day.

A few weeks ago, I read an article about rest, grounding, nature, and sunlight. These four things help your body maintain its equilibrium. I treated these with a lot of importance during my trip to see how I felt about them. I realized they helped me connect with nature and my surroundings, allowing me to rest and relax.

My journey through Italy was more than just a vacation; it was a lesson in balance and self-care. By listening to my body and embracing the present moment, I discovered a new way of experiencing life—even while away from my daily routine. Cooking breakfast under the Italian sun, savoring local cuisine without guilt, and allowing myself to rest and enjoy nature's beauty all contributed to a refreshing experience. This trip reminded me of the importance of treating oneself with kindness and mindfulness, whether at home or abroad. It's not just about what we do, but how we do it that truly nourishes our body, mind, and soul.

Begin July with a positive outlook and abundant love. Happy July 1st!
