Happy Mind = Happy Heart

Have you ever wished your mind had an OFF button? To be able to just shut it off for a few seconds and let yourself just be. During my wellness journey, I came to the realization that our body and mind are one. I used to think being healthy was just about eating the right foods and working out. Little did I know that being so strict with my habits was generating more harm than good. I was losing the battle without realizing it. And so, through years of experimenting, I have realized that wellness is an accumulation of healthy practices in your daily life. As I worked to better my mental health, my physical issues improved as well.

Let's focus on the food and body relationship, a theme that was a main issue for me for a couple of years. We live in a world where we get compared to others ALL THE TIME, by others or ourselves, always trying to live up to expectations, and it's exhausting. My path was letting go of my own expectations of myself and being okay with who I am and the way I am. Today, instead of restricting things from my diet, I am learning to let myself go and enjoy. I noticed that enjoying a pasta night with my friends makes me way happier than eating something “healthy” instead. I believe that the thought of allowing yourself to have that plate of pasta is the climax of health. Happy mind = happy heart and vice versa.

Glow with Ella once shared a study that proves my theory. There were two focus groups. Each was told to drink a milkshake daily. One group (group A) was told it was a nourishing healthy smoothie that makes you lose weight, gain muscle, have mental clarity, etc. The other group (group B) was told that it was a fattening processed sugary milkshake that was not very good for you. At the end of the study, group A had lost weight, gained muscle, and felt great. Group B, on the other hand, had gained weight as a whole and felt overall more sluggish. IT WAS THE SAME EXACT MILKSHAKE.

This one was hard for me to understand. How could it be possible? Our minds are so much more powerful than we believe them to be. So let’s give them the credit and help ourselves live a happier and stress-free life. Happy Wednesday! :)

This has been my favorite blog yet. I had been having a tough day when I read it, I had eaten too much the day before and was feeling guilty. It was what I needed to hear to get out from that loop. Thank you !!
