Understanding our bodies and the impact of hormones on our quality of life is essential. Hormones play a crucial role, especially for women, in regulating bodily functions such as metabolism, mood, and reproductive health. Through my journey, I've discovered that listening to your body's needs is a pivotal step towards hormone balance.
Embracing your body's natural rhythm will help you achieve your fullest potential, allowing you to live in harmony rather than in conflict with yourself. This path to lifestyle change took some years of tweaking and was a gradual process of trial and error for me, but I believe I'm finally grasping what works best. Initially, I swang between extremes and put myself to challenges that may not have been the most beneficial. However, continued self-exploration helped me identify what genuinely resonates with me. Now, I enjoy and cherish every aspect of my wellness routine, finding joy and health-supportive benefits in each practice, which boosts my self-esteem.
It's important to me that my readers understand that my obedience to this routine isn't rigid. I've tailored my lifestyle to what feels right for ME. Embracing activities that make you feel good is, in itself, a form of health. I plan to delve deeper into this topic in future blog posts, but for now, let's explore my top tips for achieving hormonal balance:
Add a pinch of sea salt to your water. This is a natural electrolyte and promotes water absorption. It supports our adrenal glands and nervous system.
Go on a 10-minute walk after meals. Walking after eating improves digestion and can reduce blood sugar by 20%, preventing a blood sugar spike. You use the food you just ate as energy and it will therefore not be stored as fat. (I have a trampoline and jump on it after meals because I'm too lazy, especially in the NY winter, to go walk outside haha.)
Try to have around 30 grams of protein per meal, especially for breakfast!
Create a night routine, incorporate some me-time, and prioritize sleep. I do my gua sha with my Primally Pure face oil while sitting in front of my red light panel and write in my one-line-a-day journal before going to sleep. It really helps me wind down after a stressful day at work.
No caffeine on an empty stomach. CRUCIAL for hormone balance. Try to have your morning coffee 60-90 minutes after waking up and with a meal. This can affect your cortisol levels and put your hormones out of whack.
These adjustments can lead to a more balanced, fulfilling lifestyle that honors the intricate interplay between your body and your hormones. Now go off and start enhancing your wellness journey!
